ROLES

The Roles That Hide Us

Greetings!

We all have various roles in our daily lives.

Whether it's the responsible parent, the dedicated employee, the supportive friend, or the loving partner, these roles make up the fabric of our existence.

These are all important.

But they can become a problem when used to hide from ourselves!

Think about it – You are busy juggling the demands of your various roles, going from one to the next.

On the surface, everything seems fine—you're keeping up appearances, fulfilling your duties, and meeting expectations.

But underneath the facade is a very different story — a story of avoidance, denial, and of a deep-seated fear of facing what lies beneath.

Sometimes you can use your roles as a protective barrier that keeps you from confronting the parts of yourself  you really don’t want to acknowledge or confront.

It could be the pain of past traumas, fear of rejection or failure, or maybe other uncomfortable truths you’d rather remain buried deep within.

Whatever it may be, you use your roles as a distraction.

You keep yourself busy and preoccupied telling yourself you don't have time to face the uncomfortable realities lurking beneath the surface.

You are not living your passion or purpose instead you are driven by a fear of failure.

For example - if you are an overachiever you may be constantly seeking success and recognition.

But in actuality you have a fear of failure – and what might happen if you were to slow down and suddenly find yourself having to confront an emptiness within.

Whatever role or roles you use to hide from yourself you end up denying yourself the opportunity for growth, healing, real self-discovery.

You stay trapped in avoidance.

You never fully claim your own power or embrace all of your true self.

Isn’t it time to stop hiding, stop avoiding?

Time to peel back the layers and uncover the truth?

Time to meet yourself where you are without judgement?

Time to stop denying yourself the opportunity for growth, healing, and a fulfilling life?

So - I want to invite you to take a moment to think about the following questions: What am I hiding from? What uncomfortable truths might I be trying to avoid? And, most importantly, what might happen if I were to confront these truths head on?

Did you take some time to reflect on these questions or did you find yourself avoiding them? Hit reply to share with me.

Hugs,
